Yolandè Riekert

About Yolandè

Yolande joined the practice in 2009, following her community service year. Her interest in the complexities of health and healing inspired her to pursue a Masters in Social Anthroplogy, with her dissertation exploring the experiences of mothers and children living with childhood cancer in the Eastern Cape.

Yolande has also been a yoga practitioner since 2009, and after experiencing the healing aspects of yoga herself, completed her yoga teachers training in 2012. Since then she has participated in a variety of workshops, courses and daily practices. Her yoga practices have widened her understandings of health and healing and greatly influence her clinical reasoning on a daily basis.

Yolande did her Bobath course in 2012. Her clinical reasoning is strongly supported by critically engaging with online journal articles via the e-cpd portal. Yolande is PhD candidate at the University of Cape Town, with her proposed research focusing on the death process; investigating the space in which this process occurs and experiences and interactions within; as well as looking at how healing factors into this space. When she is not pursuing her interest in travelling and expanding her health knowledge internationally, she resides in Cape Town and enjoys teaching Yoga.
